So, today I feel a lot better than yesterday. I am still very sick, but a lot better.. There has been so much to do lately, so today Kevin and I divided and conquered. We got a lot done and then came together and did more.. lol..
This evening was the first time that Leala was not with Kevin or I (meaning, not in the same house).. yeah, it was strange. Kevin's sister, Hang, watched Leala for 40 minutes while we made our second trip to the storage place. I don't even think she realized we were gone! She was playing with Serenity and Hang. It's just one more sign showing me that she is growing up.. :)
Anyway, I'll approve all comments to yesterday's post, but I'll blog about it all in tomorrow's post.. I'll answer all questions at that time. :)
For now, I'm putting the monster done for the night and going to bed..

Went to the doctor.. again..
I have bronchitis.. I finally got a steroid pack, another antibiotic, a different allergy medicine.. more nose spray, and was told to get more Mucinex DM.. ugh... That was expensive, but oh well.. Hopefully this will get me on track and I can get better soon.
As for Leala, she has a runny nose and is sneezing quite a bit.. She is still on her antibiotic from last time and some runny nose medicine.. I'm hoping she gets some of my meds (which are safe) from my milk and it will help her out too.. Who knows..
Anyway, that's about it.. I feel better this last hour than I have all day... but about 3 hours ago, I felt worse than I did this morning.. *sigh* Is this ever going to end?
One question for everyone, any tips or suggestions on weaning? I don't know anyone in person (who speaks enough English) that has breastfed for this long (everyone else is a couple of weeks or so).. So let me know.. Please, no bashing.. I have done what I think is best for my daughter. If you don't agree that I should have breastfed for this long, or that it's wrong that I start weaning my daughter now she's a year old (in a few days), please keep it to yourself. I don't need to here it. If you have genuine help, thank you! And as we all know, each child is different.

Not Again..
Someone must be playing some type of sick joke on me... Just as I am feeling better and getting things done, this evening, I can't control this new couch of mine... ugh!!! And Leala now has a runny nose... How is that possible? Her runny nose went away after the first few days of being on her antibiotic, she's still on it, and then all of a sudden she has a runny nose!
I can NOT wait for all this to be over with...
One a better note, we visited Kevin's brother today. We've been trying for weeks, but we've been sick.. (At least if I was going to get sick, it was this evening, and not this morning, so we were able to go finally.... a silver lining? I guess a very small one, huh?) Anyway, Leala did well with him. :)
Okay, I am hungry and tired.. I need to get a snack and go to bed (I know, not the best thing, but oh well..). I can't wait til my head hits the pillow tonight.. I just hope that I can actually sleep..

Best Dessert I've had in a while..
Yesterday, I made something new. It turned out great! We all loved it. In fact, it's already gone, with the help of Kevin's family. It was so good, I can't wait to make it again.
Since we all liked it so much, I thought I'd share it with all of you.

Berry Trifle
To assemble trifle, in a 2 1/2 to 3 quart glass bowl, layer one third of the cake cubes, one third of the pudding mixture, and one third of the strawberries and blueberries,. repeat layers twice. Cover and chill for 4 to 24 hours. Spoon Berry Sauce onto serving plates, top with trifle. Makes 8 to 10 servings.
Berry Sauce: In a blender or food processor combine 2 cups fresh or frozen (thawed) strawberries or raspberries (I used a frozen bag of mixed berries), 2 to 3 tablespoons of sugar, and 1 tablespoon raspberry liquer, rum or orange juice (orange juice for us). Cover and blend or process until smooth. If desired, press sauce through a fine mesh sieve to remove seeds. Cover and chill until serving time or for up to 24 hours.
YUM!!!!
- 1 4-serving-size package instant vanilla pudding mix
- 2 cups milk
- 1 8 ounce package cream cheese, softened
- 1 6 ounce container vanilla yogurt
- 1 10.75 ounce frozen loaf pound cake, thawed and cubed (3/4-inch cubes) (I used creme cake from the bakery section on walmart instead.. didn't freeze or anything, just cut it - turned out great)
- 6 cups strawberries, quartered
- 2 cups blueberries and/or raspberries (Hubby wanted blackberries, so we did those instead).

Exhausted...
We have been so busy lately. I am beyond tired... Tomorrow won't be much different either.. It's worth it in the end though.
Leala has done well today. She's taken several naps, and they were actually kinda long. Her teeth are bothering her a lot today, so when she's been awake, she's been very whiny and crabby.. But, I would too..
I mnow this is short, but I am dead tired. Leala is just about done eating, so I will need to put her down and then get myself ready for bed. I hope you all have a good weekend. :)

My new best friend.. Sam's..
I love it.. My husband is on his mom's account, and so today, we decided we'd try it out. We needed to get some groceries and a few other things, so we went to Sam's before going to Walmart. I love it. It was so great. We saved so much money. I love that I knew how much all of our normal products cost, so I was able to see how much we were saving while we went through Sam's and saw stuff.. It was really great. On just 4 bottles of Infant's Motrin (yes, we go through it quite fast), we saved $24! I am so over the top happy with this.
Leala's 7th tooth has broken through now. I can't believe she has that many teeth.. Honestly, it's very cute, but very scary too! hehe.. She's growing up so fast. :)

Still sick.. new tooth..
Leala is still sick, obviously, but we did find a new surprise today. Her sixth tooth has come! Yup, my little baby now has 6 teeth. I can't believe it. Number 7 is not far behind either.
So.. I transferred some pictures from the camera to my laptop.. Not many, since we've all been sick and having a hard time lately.. but I thought you guys might wanna see this beautiful daughter of mine, since it has been a while. :)

Isn't she cute? She actually loves wearing her glasses now! Most of the time it's outside, don't worry. :)
Our little tent that we made... haha, she loved it. We had all the pillows in the floor and we rolled around everywhere. (This was before we all got sick).

I'm feeling better but...
Leala's sick... Yup, I said it, she's sick. I took her to the doctor today and she has a sore throat (it's quite red) and ear infections in both ears.. My poor little baby... I feel so bad for her. But she is being a real trooper. She took a long nap today after we got back, and she's eating well right now (feeding her while I type this). Hopefully she sleeps well tonight. She had a very low-grade fever earlier, but it's gone now. She is so doped up on meds that I don't see how she can't sleep well.. haha..
Okay, yes, I said I feel better.. Somewhat.. I'm still sick, but I am better than yesyerday. It's improvement and I like that..
Hopefully we can all be healthy and fine by her birthday, which is 2 weeks from today.. Gah, I don't even wanna talk about it... I might have a meltdown if I do.. I know I'm gonna cry... *sigh* She's growing up so fast.

Better, but not..
My mood is better, but I am even more sick.. so yeah.. my blog will still be put on hold. I am sorry that I have been awful at blogging lately. I am sure you all understand. I wish I would just get better soon. Everything is kinda being put on hold, and it can't be much longer.. grrr.. Leala is turning one soon.. I need to make sure I have everything planned..
We were supposed to go visit Kevin's brother today.. but I am too sick.. tomorrow probably won't work either.. so we will have to see how next weekend works.. Who knows.. I feel bad, but I can't control it, you know?
Anyway, this will be it, until tomorrow.. Hopefully I feel better and I can post some pictures of some sort. We shall see.

Just one of those days...
I don't care about anything.. I'm so frustrated.. so upset... so blah... so tired of everything.. I'm sick of being sick. I'm tired of being tired...
I'm still sick.. no, the antibiotics didn't work magically over night.. but I didn't expect them to. My throat hurts like crazy. My ears hurt. I keep coughing. Not fun at all.
Leala is not listening to me at all today. Normally, she is a great girl who knows what "No" means and will sometimes test you by looking at you while she attempts to do what you said 'no' to.. She knows when she's doing something bad, and after at most 2 times of saying 'no' to her, she moves on. Not today.. so right now, she's sitting in her crib entertaining herself because she wouldn't leave things alone, and right now she's not allowed to have toys.. lol.. I know, a little extreme for a less than 1 year old, but oh well.
I don't know what's wrong with me. I'm just blah... (And no, this isn't the type of blog where I need everyone to comment and tell me that it's part of motherhood.. or postpartum depression or anything like that... not today guys). This is me being in a bad mood.. a helpless mood.. a very unhappy mood..
Kevin has tried many times throughout the day to try to make things better... but nope.. before he can try for 3 seconds, something interrupts us... like his parents needing something... his parents' friend needing something... someone calling about the thread we have on craigslist... or someone actually coming to buy some of the thread... ugh.. I didn't get to eat a real lunch.. We attempted dinner, and that got messed up, so we're trying again later. So, I guess he gave up trying to make me feel better..
Ugh, I'm just depressed I guess... I don't know.. And it doesn't help that my support team is MIA.. I've talked to both people (yes, my support team consists of mainly 2 people - other than Kevin) and neither have even noticed anything wrong... It's my fault for not telling them, but oh well.. I'm blah right now and feel like I don't need to..
I'm sorry this is a bad post.. I don't know what else to write.. I'm not motivated to do much of anything right now.. so yeah.. Maybe tomorrow this will be better.

Doctor
Thank you everyone for your concern. I'm doing my best to get better. :)
I went to the doctor today... fun stuff, huh? Well, I finally got an antibiotic, so that should hopefully knock this stuff out. I don't have strep, thank goodness. I am glad that he got me the antibiotic.. I hate it that for pretty much the last two years I haven't been able to take any real medication.. ugh.. I know it's best, but man it sucks... lol..
Anyway, we'll see how this goes, but for now, I'm still kinda out of commission, so I will hopefully have a blog-worthy post tomorrow..

Again...
So yeah.. I'm sick again.. ugh, this past year has been full of sickness.. I think I have strep throat. I've made an appointment for tomorrow. I can't continue to be sick. I don't have energy and that's no good when you're a breastfeeding mommy..
I'll keep you updated and let you all know what's going on.

My Next Step Down Memory Lane..
So, we continue the stroll down memory lane..
Once Kevin left for deployment, I didn't know what to do with myself. I'm not the outgoing type at all, so meeting friends wouldn't be easy. And honestly at that point, I still felt that the whole thing was temporary, so I didn't want to get close to anyone.. my way of protecting myself, I guess.
Anyway, I did end up meeting a few people on myspace and on cafemom who were wives that lived in the Beaufort base housing too. Eventually I went ahead and met a girl at her house that lived 2 streets over from me in base housing. I was excited and hoped for the best. We kinda hit it off at the beginning, but after many months it didn't really work out. We were totally different (and not in a good way). But on that first day that I went to her house, her friend Jennifer was there. Jennifer's husband was gone too, and actually worked in the AME shop with my husband.
This is the girl who kept me going through my pregnancy. She kept me sane while Kevin was gone (and even after.. frankly, men aren't easy to live with or without!). She was my second husband and Leala's second daddy.. haha. I love her, and I don't know how I could have done things without her. She did everything that Kevin would have done for me if he was there and all the things that a girlfriend does for you. She took me to 5 million places to pick out our Christmas tree... She went with me to go buy the changing table.. She even got me a discount on my recliner and then carried into my house! She was there when I was hormonal and needed to cry.. She was there when I was bored and didn't want to look at my house anymore. She was there when my back hurt. She was the one who hooked up little shocking things to my back to ease the pain. She was the one who I bought groceries with and helped carried them inside.. She was the one whose house I was at 24-7, to where I normally didn't have to buy groceries.. She was the one who took me out to eat when I just had to have Applebee's and nothing else.. She satisfied my sweet cravings and didn't talk too much trash about me when I ate 5 cupcakes in one sitting.. She was the one who helped me watch my sugar after I found out I had gestational diabetes. She helped me through the unknowns of pregnancy and motherhood. She gave me all of her daughter's old clothes! She let me stay at her house practically 24-7 for several months. She was my best friend. She is my best friend.
So yeah, after moving to South Carolina, determined not to meet anyone and make attachments, I go off and meet the best friend I've ever had.. Good going, huh?
In all honesty, it couldn't have been a better time. I thought I was strong. I thought I was hard. I thought I could do it all my own and that I didn't need anyone. Yeah right.. I learned how wrong I was.. and rather quickly too. I needed somone. I needed Jennifer and she was there.. always.
*Stay tuned til next time, and we'll continue my stroll down memory lane.*
*By the way, Jennifer. Thanks. I love you and I don't know what I'd do without you.*

A Stroll Down Memory Lane...
Some of you may have my post about how I found out I was pregnant and how I told Kevin. If not, go check it out if you want.. I thought, I might as well take a stroll down memory lane and write about journey through my pregnancy with Leala. That post started it all.
So now, on to the next part of the journey. We knew that Kevin would have to go on deployment soon (July 5th, 2007), so we only had a month together after we found out that I was pregnant. We went ahead and bought some baby things, so that he could play a part in the shopping part of it all. I know, it could be considered bad luck to do such things, but you do what you can when the military is involved. Plus, we were overly excited about being pregnant.
I was so happy that I got pregnant when I did, b/c it seemed like perfect timing. He was home long enough at the beginning to be there when I found out, and even for when I started showing. Then we was back home from deployment by the time I was 33 weeks pregnant. Yes, he missed most of the appointments and yes, he missed hearing her heartbeat for the first time and the first ultrasound, but he did get to see the last ultrasound. I was even allowed to record her heartbeat and the first (internal) ultrasound too. So, I mailed that to him (which of course didn't get there until well over 3 weeks later), and I played the heartbeat over the phone for him too. :)
Yes, I said I started showing fairly early. I got big, fast... and stayed big.. haha.. There were two sacs at the beginning, but the second egg never developed. We didn't know all this before Kevin left for deployment, but everyone did say that it looked like twins. :)
So, here we were.. married for 2 years, been wanting a baby for a while, but couldn't because he was stationed in Japan and I was in Texas... and we just found out I'm pregnant... and in a month, he was leaving to go on deployment on the USS Enterprise (eventually near Iraq). Oh, and did I mention that none of my family lived around there. Everyone was back home in Texas.. and I hadn't made any friends yet either.. we had only been in South Carolina for 2 months before we found out I was pregnant.
I knew things would be hard, but I made the choice to get pregnant. We wanted a baby, and if I had to be alone while pregnant, then so be it. I would make it through, some how..
I thought I could do it. I didn't think I'd need anyone.. That I could make it through, until Kevin got back. I didn't need any new friends there. South Carolina wasn't my home. It was temporary. We were only staying there for a year and a few months. I didn't need any strings holding me there. Though I felt "prepared", little did I know how little I knew..
Stay tuned for the continuation of my walk down memory lane... through my pregnancy with Leala.

This was taken at 8 weeks and 5 days... I was showing already. :)
The bassinet, baby clothes, blankets, towels, etc that we bought before Kevin left. We got the carseat and stroller too. Oh, and yes, that's in the living room. We kept it in there, since that's where we spent most of our time, so we could see it more often. :)
Stay tuned for the continuation of my walk down memory lane... through my pregnancy with Leala.

A year ago today...
I can't believe how much things can change in a year. Change was a big one for us this year.
I (again) don't have much time to write tonight. I am working on a project of getting a lot of pictures developed, so I'm having to go through all of them, pick out the ones I want printed, and edit them... I'm doing this to all pictures from all the way back to when Leala was born.. maybe even further if I can edit them before the sale ends. :) But I thought I'd at least leave you with a picture from a year ago (in 5 days).
I was 37 weeks pregnant. Kevin was finally home from deployment (had been for a few weeks). I was so beyond ready to have our baby and looked that way too! I was happy, anxious, excited, scared, and anything else you can think of. My family wouldn't be able to be there for the birth (they lived back home in Texas and we were stationed in SC at the time), but they'd be coming to visit that week after Leala was born. I still had 3 more weeks to go, and didn't know how I could get any bigger... oh but I did...

Now What?
So yeah.. yesterday, while I was doing all my cleaning, I pulled a muscle in my back. It hurts to be on the computer, so I won't be writing a real post today. Hopefully it gets better tomorrow. It is feeling somewhat better than earlier today, so I'm hopeful. :)

Leala is a cutie!
Leala has been doing a lot of cute things lately since I have been MIA for a while.
*Leala growls back when you growl at her.
*While we were at Chili's yesterday, a waiter walked by and Leala casually looked at him and gave him the most awful face she's ever made. He even jumped back and said "did you see that look she gave me?" It was hilarious. Our sweet little girl can be so vicious.
*Now she waves and says "hiiiii" to everyone over and over in a very high pitched voice.
Kevin then taught her to say "bowl" this morning. Every time he said it, she repeated it like a pro.
*The other day Kevin held Serenity (his niece) since she wasn't feeling well and Leala objected with "ah-ha, ah-ha" as if coughing to get his attention. It was too funny. The whole family was laughing about it.
*That reminds me, she also mimics people who are coughing by coughing back. The only person she hasn't done that to is Kevin. He thinks he's special.
*ANY time music comes on (or even if it's sudden sounds) she begins to dance. She'd wave her hands in the air and moves her little body around. The other day she was at the table, she placed her hands on the table and moved her body side to side. It was so cute.
*She likes to comb Kevin's hair (almost everyday for the past 3 days now) and kisses him. She's trying to be a mommy.
*We have a giggling baby doll and Leala hugs it like her own baby. It's so sweet. She gets the biggest smile on her face and tilts her head to the side when she hugs her. It lasts about 5 seconds and then she throws the doll, lol.
*She's getting really good at kissing. We almost just have to pucker up in front of her. And oh, she kissed her grandpa and said "ahhh" as if she finished drinking water.
*As a baby, she liked to hit Kevin in the face. It was fun and cute before but Kevin didn't want her getting use to it now that she's older, so he told her "no" when she was about to. She stopped with her hand up and lowered it, but lifted it up again. Kevin told her "no" again and so she put it down, leaned up and kissed him on the lips. He then pretended he was mad at her and she kissed his chin. Too cute.
*She sticks her hand down my shirt sometimes but she accidentally did it to Kevin and he looked at her with "that face" and she looked at him like "oh.. wrong person" and then kissed him. So funny.

It's good to feel alive again...
So, since we were finally feeling normal again (still somewhat sick, but not really), we ventured out today. Actually, today was the first time we have gotten out of our pajamas since New Year's Day. haha.. I did laundry yesterday and everything was pajamas.. Good times..
Anyway, I will get to my story, as this needs to be rather short, since we haven't relaxed all day. We ran several errands that were building up.
* First, we went to the bank to cash a check.
* Then we got gas.
* Then we went to Ross to see if we could find these certain socks for Leala. I've looked everywhere and can't find them.. so I thought I'd give it a shot.. Plus I wanted to look at their clothes for Leala and toys, just in case. (Her birthday is less than a month away, so I wanted to finish up the shopping). Oh, no luck on the socks here... but we did find some others that I hope will work. It was only a 3 pack though.
* We treated ourselves to lunch at Chili's after that. Ross and Marshall's are right next to eachother, and Chili's is the only close place around there.. We were hungry already, since we didn't get to leave as early as I wanted.. Oh well, we had a fun time. Leala was wonderful too.
* After that, we went to Marshall's to return a dress I had bought Leala when I didn't know what size she would need. It was her birthday dress, and I didn't know which one to get - the 18 month one or the 12 month one.. Hubby is always good at that, but he wasn't with me when I bought them. We looked around for some things and got Leala a back-up outfit for her birthday and got her one more outfit for a gift for her birthday.
* Then we went to Toys R Us to get the toy toys I needed to finish up Leala's birthday stuff. I couldn't find them at all. I know they didn't have the book.. It was out of stock.. I don't know about the purse thing.. Oh well.. because..
* After that, we went to Babies R Us to get a few things, and they had both toys there! I was so happy. :) And we got her the little white and pink bloomers I've been wanting to get her.
*Then we made our last stop at Kohl's to see if they had the socks.. nope.. (they're called humpty dumpty socks.. or Carter bubble socks). So we got this other kind (since I've been searching for weeks, even though I saw tons of this size when I bought her last size). Hopefully they will work out.
*Then we finally came home.. 5 hours after we left.. Oh and don't forget there were a few stops to feed Leala in the car, before or after shopping.. and once at Chili's. She was such a trooper though. She did so great today.
Tomorrow I will have to write about some of the funny things she is doing now and did today.. too funny and cute! Oh and Kevin did great too! He was with me the whole entire time, and kept a smile on his face too!! I don't really think the smile was genuine 70% of the time, but oh well. haha. :)

Doing better...
This is the closest to normal we have been in several days... I still have a runny/stuffy nose, but I am feeling much better. I did end up throwing up my dinner, but I don't think that was related to my illness, since it was the first and only time vomiting through all this.
Kevin is doing better. His fever went down last night. This morning it was 99.1 and then by noon, it was down to 97.9. I am so happy that his fever finally broke and that he is feeling somewhat normal. His cough still sounds bad, but he doesn't cough much. He still has drainage, but like everything else, it's not as bad as it was.
Leala is still teething. Last night she refused to sleep in her bed. Every time we put her down, she woke up and wanted us again.. So about 1 AM, I gave up and put her in bed with us. I needed my sleep. The last few nights, she has done well and slept the entire night. I know getting that sleep was the only reason why I was getting better through all this. I hope that she does well tonight.
I am so thankful and lucky that Leala didn't get sick this time. I'm not sure how I could have handled it.. I know I would have somehow, but I'm glad I didn't have to.
I hope to start blogging like normal again soon.. hopefully tomorrow. I might be doing some recapping of things that happened last year and maybe even years before that.. If you have any special requests, let me know. Until then, have a great day/night.
Thank you again for all your concern while we've been sick.

Doing a little better..
Kevin's fever finally broke this evening. Well, it's still a low-grade fever, but at least it's not 102.something.. Last time we checked it was 99.2 I think. He says he is feeling much better, though he's still sick of course. Leala is doing pretty good. Still teething, but doing good. I am alright... Honestly, I don't even know how I am.. haha. I haven't even been given the chance to see how I feel. Mommies aren't allowed to be sick, so I haven't been.. lol.. Ok, seriously, I have my moments of course, but I think I am feeling better too.
Things will hopefully be getting back to normal soon. I have a long list of things I want to do soon, including finishing up my resolution list... yes, I'm making one.. And it's long already.. Some things are goals, some are improvements, some are just reminders... but the list is stuff that I need fresh in my mind, so I can achieve them. I'm sure I'll be writing about it here at some point.
For now, I'm going to brush my teeth and get to bed. Thank you again everyone for all the kind words and support.

Thank you everyone!
It is so great to sign on each day to see all the lovely comments from all of you. You are all such sweet women. I couldn't ask for better bloggy friends. Thank you for all your concern, thoughts, prayers, and good wishes.
Kevin and I are still sick.. I'm not sure if we are better or worse.. There's moments where we feel better and moments where we feel worse, so who knows. Leala is doing well. Still teething, but she's a trooper.
Thank you again for all your wonderful comments. You guys really do bring a smile to my face. :)

Yes, again.. a short post..
So, Kevin and I are sick... and Leala is still teething.. I have been feeling gradually worse throughout the day, as has Kevin. And of course I can't take much medicine for it, since I'm breastfeeding Leala.
Anyway, again this is the end of my post for today. I am such an awful blogger friend.. I will catch up on as many blogs as I can while Kevin takes a quick shower. The rest will have to wait..

MIA
So, today has been a long day. Leala is whiny and clingy. We spent most of the day at my parents' house. I feel like I might be trying to get sick now.. And Leala won't go to bed.. So, this is the end of post again.. I'm sorry I have been somewhat MIA, but I know you understand. Hopefully I'll get caught up tomorrow.
